I am grateful for the many freedoms I enjoy because of the vision of our Forefathers and now because of the efforts of so many wonderful men and women giving their lives for our country.

Let Freedom Ring!
Our Fourth of July celebration, living in the vicinity of the nation's capitol was spent on our own street at the neighborhood block party. We have wonderful neighbors who really enjoy each others company and getting together often. It rained from about 4 pm on and throughout the night. We were very glad that we weren't on the lawn of the National Mall with an umbrella during all of that rain. (I will plan to be there next year. It's the greatest fireworks show in the world!) Our neighborhood celebration started with a bike parade with County Fire Engine leading the parade. Thanks to fireman Kurt on our street. The kids were soaking wet but loved every minute of it. We then had a barbecue and potluck dinner. At dark, about 9:30 pm the fireworks began. Our neighbors put up 4-5 canopies and we had a cozy evening of good conversation, food, and fireworks. In rainy wet Virginia, they allow fireworks of all kinds. We even had the huge, cover the sky type right on our street. I don't think that dry Arizona even allows sparklers anymore.
